Marley was born on April 20, 1972, in Kingston, Jamaica, to parents Bob Marley and Rita Marley. He was raised in Kingston, Jamaica after being born in Wilmington, Delaware. Stephen has 11 siblings in total. Four came from his father, Bob, and mother, Rita; two came from his mother, Rita’s former relationship, and the other from Bob’s earlier partnerships.

In a private ceremony, Stephen married Kertia DeCosta Marley. Stephen, like his father, has eleven children: Joseph Mersa “Jo Mersa” Marley, Binghi Marley, Nyah Marley, Summer Marley, Mystic Marley, Sasha Marley, Jeremiah Marley, Zipporah Marley, Yohan Marley, Lailah Marley, and Shacia Marley.
